YOUR STYLE TRAVEL GUIDE THIS FESTIVE SEASON

The festive season is here once  again and without doubt  our most favorite time of the year. It's also time to start your last minute shopping for Christmas especially for the holiday makers who love to travel out of town!
This is also the season where many tailors will disappoint their clients....lol.  So here are my style travel tips you could find useful if you are going on a long or short flight or on a road trip this holiday.

The Cooler weather is here and you may need to add a jacket or sweater to your luggage  these are key pieces that you should never travel without. When travelling, comfort should be your ultimate concern. I often do a lot of people watching while waiting for my flight to board and cant help but notice how inappropriatly dressed most travellers appear.  If you are not going for a dinner party straight from the plane or the car why dress like you are going to meet the queen. This is quite uncomfortable if you ask me. I always try to be a happy traveler and I always try to stay comfy and cool. You may find my travel outfit checklist useful in ensuring that you’re staying comfortable while still nailing your airport style this festive season

My travel outfit checklist

Go for Outfits with Comfy fabrics
You want to wear clothes in fabrics that will breathe. This is really helpful when you’re dealing with the unpredictable temperatures on a plane. Often you can find yourself dealing with cooler climates  one minute and feeling really hot the next so natural fabrics are great as they can keep you warm without risking overheating.  Don’t wear Linen i to fly in as you’ll inevitably always look like a crumpled mess. Our African Ankara is good for travelling which is cotton and very comfy.

Be comfortable
I will always opt for soft comfy garments when I’m travelling, especially if you have kids to tend to. I also particularly love flying in dresses or a pair of leggings and a free casual top. The idea is to have some freedom of movement in whatever you choose to wear when on a flight. I  don’t mind wearing jeans or relaxed fit lounge pants either. A dress shirt also works for me.

Bags
A tote bag, a backpack or a cross body bag is one of the coolest things you can carry when travelling as they will keep your hands free. Look for a bag that is easily accessible so you don’t constantly have to keep looking for your passport and boarding pass.

Pack a scarf
I always travel with a pashmina or a large scarf as it can double as a blanket if I get cold. It’s also great for popping on over an outfit to look chic when travelling.

Shoes
If you choose to go for flats, heels, wedges, slides, comfy ballet shoes, boots or sneakers always remember to go for what makes you comfortable. Also avoid shoes or sandals with buckles so that you wont have too much hassle removing them at check in points.

Makeup
You may wish to keep it simple, you are travelling not going for a party. Travelling is usually a time to relax  besides the skin needs to breath. However you may be jumping out of the plane into an event this festive season, so keep your makeup bag close for a touch up.

When travelling to countries with cooler climates
If it is an international flight and you are going to a country with much cooler climates, you may need to be more prepared for landing. Make sure to  keep a jacket  and a pashmina  scarf close. Remember to wear clothes that will cover up more skin yet still stylish and comfy. Jeans, sneaker and a nice cashmere cardigan or top would do.

Travel luggage
When weighing your choice of travel bags, think about how long your stay is and if you need to pack a lot of things. Go with the bag that meets your most important needs. A back pack for a shorter stay would be cool too. Soft-sided rolling bags are of course very comfy. The main advantage of a rolling bag is that you can effortlessly wheel your gear around without getting sweaty. A rolling bag also gives you the option to set your smaller bag on top and roll that one as well. Ensure to keep all your item in your travel bag to avoid holding too many other things.
